I love the new name you gave CPAC!
Here's my issue with the Coulter issue--I'm not all that shocked that Anne Coulter would say such a thing. To me, she's basically a political shock jock that loves to rile people up.
Frankly, I'm less disappointed with her (because I guess I've learned to expect it from her) and more disappointed with people like Atlas Shrugs and their readers. Atlas Shrugs, rather tha outright saying the "f" word is dehumanizing and we shouldn't use it, uses Coulter's words as an opportunity to say Edwards might be gay. If that's an issue (which I really hadn't heard of), then shouldn't they figure it out without name calling?
Then the readers go on to say that it's appropriate to use such a word. That's what I'm sad about. That regular Americans seem to think it's ok to use that word at another person.
I would like to point out that I was very happy to see many conservatives like Michelle Malkin call Coulter out for this. Props to you for the same...
Yes, that is a rhetorical question but you all are welcome to tackle it if you feel the need to do so.
we need new conservative leaders.
Guilliani, Gingrich, and Coulter all come off has hypocrites. I don't know how they can espouse family values, the sanctity of marriage, or even the rule of law with the way they have behaved in their personal lives.
she has chosen to go all out and offend as many people as possible
This is the key. She's too smart and experienced to use words like that and not already know the impact of them. You are one of the few conservative bloggers who are willing to just state the truth about her. She knows what she is saying and the conservative rank and file need to tell her shape up or they'll cut her loose. It's frustrating to watch the conservative objective get periodically sabotaged by her irresponsible remarks.
I'm completely with Brady when he says that any qualifier, e.g., "but", helps reinforce the view that we approve of her.
I hate it when public figures say something innocuous or choose the wrong words, and then get flayed for them. Ann has made a living out of it.
I also appreciate the rhetorical question you ask early in the comments.
Great post.
