Marriage isn't a civil right. It is a socially and legally defined benefit. Start talking about marriage as a legal benefit and you have my attention. As long as you frame it wrongly as a civil right you diffuse what true civil rights are and infuse a level of vitriol that isn't necessary.
Neither I nor you have to be married to be treated equal and live in freedom.
And you will like the courts being the "defender of the oppressed" ... well ... until it is the courts that start oppressing you and you have no other recourse.

With people like Dobson who mere five years ago campaigned ferociously for jailing gays for being gay. Do you still believe that opverturning sodomy statutes were wrong and would you be willing to jail all the gays living in Texas to a huge concentration camps? Your friends werre in facvor of them and opposed gays seeking justice and equal rights through courts... how about you?
Do you dispapprove that gays dare to stand up for their rights? You say that you "feel for gays" whose lives and relationships you have spat on, about whom you have lied and slandered for years. You. a "man" who advocates for stripping our rights and who is paid by the most vicious anti-gay hate group, Focus on The Family?
We gays are truly the niggers of todays America. Thousands of Christians prayed in san Diego so that we would be hurt as much as possible. Christian and mormon acrvists hurl insults and spread vicious lies that seek to defame us, to make us look dangerous, to make people despise us... there is no limit what people like you are willing to do in order to hurt us.
You gat your lioving from hurting us. Own it you bigot. You celebrated and were overjoyed when thousands of gay couples were spat on through majority vote. Own it and rejoice, you truly have hurt and insulted us deeply. You have caused immeasurable pain to your fellow citizens so the least you can so is to be honest aboiut it. You succeedced in hurting us, I hope that some day you get to feel the pain gay couoples in California gfeel now. Thousandfold.

I bolded the part where I think you are the pot calling the kettle black. Your whole comment is a degrading personal attack filled with lies meant to shock and defame myself and people of similar beliefs. You have bought the lie that Christians want to make you hurt and then turn around and say you would be rejoicing over my destruction.

I never rejoice over others pain. I am being honest about that. If I ever do get "devoured" it won't be because of my hate ... I don't hate you. Also, if destruction does come my way I will be praying for your soul to be blessed with an awareness of God's love and redemption as I fall.
I know a lot of Christians and a few of the Mormons in California and not a single one of them did this to cause *you* pain. If you can't wrap your head around that then you truly have no clue as to how your opponent thinks.

But, I am actually glad that my salary doesn't come from them. I love their ministry but it is different than what we do at Exodus. What I do from 9-5 is deal with issues of equipping the church with the redemptive message Exodus brings. I help with our Professional Counselors, Member Ministries and Member Churches. We have 210 Member agencies that I oversee a decent staff appointed to serve those three networks and their needs.
Plus a myriad of other things that I know Focus On the Family appreciates but is not called to do.
We have moments of public policy involvement, and I talk about it here on my personal blog but my *job* might focus on public policy 1-3% of my overall attention. Again, there are moments and those who hate us latch on to that and use it to generate lies and mischaracterize us.
