I ventured into a mall today. There were all these winter blowout sales and I found myself in stores I normally could never afford to enter. I caught myself observing the clientele. It was like a club of fashion. All these women were checking out everyone else's outfits! "Where did you get that from?" "I love your sweater, I'm going to buy one just like it." One woman approached me and asked about my scarf. I told her I found it at WalMart and what a wonderful scarf it was. Her eyes bugged out and she turned around and walked away. I confess to getting in the car and laughing hysterically. It's all so silly...and sad. It's a good thing she never asked where I got my jeans from.
:::sipping coffee:::
How are you going to spend your day off?
Nice coffee machine!!
Amy ::: taking another sip O' coffee ::: Thanks, I think I have a pretty groovy coffee machine. As for Christianity without standards... can I ask ... how do you put grace and mercy into that statement?
I spent my day running a couple of errands, I am waiting on a friend to call that I haven't heard from in a little over five years. and I am just chillaxing doing what I got to do. I will probably do some laundry later.
I just posted a blog about the ACLU and Ziggy. :)
Oh and it is cold down here too. Well for us it is cold.
::: sip :::
Thank goodness they laughed but when I assured them that this was indeed what they were smelling they were a little embarrassed.
I really appreciate the coffee on such a cold day. :::checking to see if toes are still there::: My poor car. It didn't want to start this morning and then I couldn't get the door open after work tonight.
Was Ikea fun?
:::sip:::
Ikea is always a blast for me. Keeps my eyes entertained and creativity engaged. They have great designs and it is affordable. The only thing is that after about an hour I am tired of being in the middle of the masses.
Do they have Ikea where you live?
If anyone else would like to join in the door is unlocked and another pot is brewing ... I would say the door is open but apparently it's cold for Cheryl.
HI EVA! Great to see you here. :)
There is an Ikea 5 minutes from my home. What a labrynth of displays. If someone hadn't painted those arrows on the floor I'd be lost. The last time I was in Ikea I met a man who was blown away by how much cheaper Ikea was compared to other stores. There was something about hearing English expletives spoken in a thick Asian accent that struck me as particularly funny. He's likely a regular Ikea man now. Does Blaine usually go with you to Ikea?
:::refilling coffee mug:::
Would you pass the cream please?
Is this a busy time of year for you?
Yes, this is a very busy time of year for me. This January has been insane up until this week. It is still very busy though. I have only been to IKEA twice because it is on the complete other side of the city from me. Blaine has been with me once so I guess about half the time he goes :). I went with Mr. Chambers this time around.
Maybe we should send some messages to friends who might join us. Someone needs to bring crumpets because I have never had a crumpet and imagine it to be delicious.
::letting myself in::
hey guys,
i hope the coffee's still hot, because it's COLD out there.
i thought i'd drop in- i found some crumpets at this little bakery down the street, and i brought some homemade Finish sweetbread too.
Did your cousin fill you in on our round about connection in offline life? I guess I posted something Calgaryish on your wall. Your cousin saw it and sent me a message asking how I knew you and telling me that she had lived in Calgary. I replied that you and I had connected online through our mutual friend, Randy, but had never met in person. I noticed one of her names was the same as my dear friend's married name. I asked her if she was related to Colleen Hilman. It turns out she is. Cousins. I played the piano at Mark and Colleen's wedding. Apparently your Aunt was there. I've likely met your Aunt. Strange isn't it?
:::sip:::
Snap?
How's school going?
:::dipping crumpet in coffee:::
Is work insane until the conference in the spring, Randy? Do you recover quickly from busyness?
Oh my goodness! That's great that you are related to my cousin. That would make you and I shirttail cousins!
My cousins... so funny. I have a zillion of them.
Do you happen to recall which aunt you may have met?
Oh, why thank you Randy, I would like to put my feet up.
You are welcome. I love the crumpet thingys. I don't know what recover from busyness means in that I am always insanely busy until my body just basically shuts down. :). So I guess that would be a no.
::: thinking about adding Bailey's to my coffee... nah... probably not a good idea :::
Actually, my dear friend is related to your cousin. Although, I would consider her a sister. Her husband, your cousin's cousin, said he had a zillion cousins as well. I can't remember which Aunt it was. The wedding was several years ago.
:::puzzled with the plethora of cousins:::
I'm suddenly reminded of 'Where's Waldo?' for some reason.
:::sip:::
::snaps a snap in enjoyment::
::: calling out :::: Here Sassy... here Sassysassysassy!
::: Sassy the Sasquatch lumbers out of the backyard and through the Sasquatch door ::: Randy hugs and pets her head :::
"Who's the good Sasquatch! You are! YES you are!"
::: Sassy starts to purrrrr::::
:)
:::: smiling :::: Workin' on that thug appeal are ya? ::::: big smile :::::
Listen Susan, I have a couple years yet before I have failed in my thug appeal so ... don't get too sassy ... Get it ... "sassy" ::: stupid laugh ::: Sassy laughs too :::
We need more guys, aside from me, at this coffee thing.
What's the difference between a crumpet and a scone?
Would Sassy like some sugar in her coffee?
Hellooo Susan! Nice to see you!
Oh, Susan and Sassy! How wonderful to see you both. How about some snaps with your coffee, Sassy?
I'd love another crumpet Kate if I may? Laura Hilman Juntunen is your cousin's name.
Susan, how was your journey here? See any sundogs?
Is there a football game on? What's happened to the guys? Which team are ya'll cheering for in the Superbowl?
:::gasp::: Did I just say 'ya'll'? I've committed treason against the Canadian language! Eh? :::sigh of relief:::
Huh.
Say, Sassy, would you pour me another cup? And thank you so much for sitting on my toes. They are finally warming up.
::: then turns and gives Cheryl a hug ::: I saw a rainbow sundog on my way here! I couldn't believe it! I've just never noticed them before.
Aren't sundogs beautiful? I wonder why they're called sundogs...
:::passing coffee from Sassy to Kate:::
Hey, guys! Sorry I'm late. Is there any coffee left, or should I start a new pot?
Oooo...that sweetbread looks good!
Where are all the guys?
I'll go make more coffee ... ya'll chat :).

Do you have sundogs in Florida?
:::passing Mindy the sweetbread:::
Hey, Min. did you bring any of those famous redbeet eggs?
Has anyone seen the movie 'Atonement' yet? I'm hearing good things about it.

Of course, Cheryl! I always bring redbeet eggs to coffee time.
:::rolling eyes with a smirky grin:::
I've heard that Atonement was good too. I really want to see it. I just saw Bucket List the other night and really enjoyed it. You saw that one, didn't you, Susan? What did ya think?
Definitely want to see 'The Bucket List'. This coffee time is all I've had time for with work as crazy as it is.

.....Hi Randy , Mindy, Cheryl, Kate and Susan! I could smell the coffee all the way in Oklahoma!!!
....Hey where are all the guy's?....
....Randy your Art work rocks!!....very Van Gogh in a sorta Christian Spirit filled perspective...
::::helping my-self to the coffee grinder and grinding down to espresso fine texture some heavenly hazelnut dark roast beans:::::: Randy, wheres the coffee filters? are you all using tap water?......
I went into my favorite coffee shop for flavor, Peaberry Coffee in Denver, yesterday. So dark and smooooooth. But in Breckenridge I came across the shop with the coolest vibe ever.
I'll describe it after I pour some more intellegence down. So good to see you all today.
Daniel, Sassy checked out the door and it is fine. The filters are behind the purified water on the third shelf in the pantry.
Ben, I look forward to hearing about cool vibe coffee. So glad you guys are here. We have quite a coffee soire going on.
Did Daniel say he was from Oklahoma? Wonder if he knows Laura Leigh and the gang?
Hi, Ben! Be right back, I wanna hear about the cool vibe coffee shop too!
:::: stealing away to the kitchen to smell the aroma of the hazelnut dark roast beans Daniel is grinding down and to find out if he knows some of my friends in Oklahoma ::::
::letting myself in::
Hey everybody. Brought the last of my "Philly soft-pretzels" on my way to the office! Hmmmm. Is that Hazelnut Espresso beans I smell?!
Latte would be great!
:::sits by fireplace and away from heated screen door:::
Is there more than one Pat?
OH yippee!!! I love Philly soft-pretzels! Did you bring enough for everyone, or should I split one with someone? Randy, do you have any mustard?
As for the Superbowl, mmm...I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'm going back and forth. I guess at this point, I'd like to see the Patriots make history. There's a good chance I won't even be around to watch it, but I'm ok with that.
Can I pour you some Hazelnut coffee?....say when.........
Say Randy did you hear about that Chuck Davis guy from the Patriots and how he and a handful of Christian players began talking about Christ in the locker room and how they have witnessed to all the players. I hear they are reaping for they Kingdom.::::sip::: makes me almost care about them winning now::::sip::::: Hey Ben, Chas.
Saw they Bucket list Wednesday, I took my mother. We liked it ok and yes they are good actors and I think I know the profound scene your talking about Susan. The one were they are talking about God, and Morgan Freeman spoke some Truth :-) I didn't care for the GD word cropping up a couple times, seems it's a prerequisite for Hollywood movies
Several of the Oklahoma gang and I crossed paths in Wichita in '06. Because of Laura Leigh's caring heart, she connected me with a LivingWaters here in Indiana. God bless your service to the Lord in the ass't leadership position, Daniel. That's wonderful.
That's not the scene I'm referencing but it's a good one. Even though this movie has some bad language and some raunchiness to it, there's stuff about Truth in there too. Pretty cool for a Hollywood movie.
:::: overhearing Randy speak of his Mom, Pat. Giggles at Randy's knowledge(?) of sports and thinking my Mom's name is Pat also ::::
Hey, Mindy, where's the sweetbread you mention?
must...come...up...for...air...
Was that EVER GOOD!!!
Good to see you, Daniel, Ben and Chas. Ben, what is Peaberry coffee?
:::going for seconds of the hazelnut:::
Of course there should be some french's brown mustard in the bag there...
Good points Daniel (do you prefer Dan? I'll presume not). My how time flies! The whole game is over and Tom Brady didn't seem like he was even there in Arizona.
::: deep sigh :::
Oh well, God can cure the hearts of all those football fans with a dose of Himself. It's kinda cool the Manning brother's have won two years in a row (I'd a been an 'underdog' rooter myself it it'd been anyone but the Patriots).
::: sips a deep draught of Peaberry wondering how to describe it :::
::: imagining there are maggots in the pretzels ... I am going hardcore back into the gym and food"watch" mode. :::
I'm sorry to say that I slept through most of the Superbowl...then I followed the score from my phone...then I had a friend call and tell me the outcome at the end. Sounds like it was quite the game!
Susan, Kate brought the sweetbread...it's there next to Cheryl's ginger snaps.
I've never had a Philly soft pretzel. Would you pass me one too, Chas?
:::thinking of Randy::: Oh yup, definitely full of maggots. Veggies and light dip?
:::contemplating peaberry coffee and wondering if it can be found in Canada:::
Visualizing horrible things in food that I want to devour is very effective for me.
... work with me here ...
That was THE most exciting 4 quarter SuperBowl I've ever seen. It was especially so since it was Peyton's little brother Eli in the SuperBowl! Archie's two sons have won the SuperBowl. What are the odds? They have another brother, Cooper, the eldest of the three. If you like great, inspirational stories and also like the Mannings, this is a great story http://www.sptimes.com/2004/11/07/Sports/The_other_Manning.shtml
Check out the picture of Cooper, Peyton and Eli as young boys. It's a great pic.

I'm so excited! I've never heard a 4 part spoon solo before. You go girl!!! I love salon style concerts.
Randy, I thought of you earlier today whilst in the grocery store. I passed by a shelf of Right Guard Sport and had to flip the lid off and smell. Very nice!
:::sipping coffee and hoping someone will share a monologue:::
Cheryl, Peaberry is only in Denver and Boulder. Sounds like a fantastic reason for a road trip.
The game was fun. Joe Buck cracks me up in his commercials. He's not afraid to look goofy with his sports coat and tie self.
The maggots haven't deterred me from eating lately, Randy. Had a peanut butter cookie at Mary's Mountain Cookies in Breckenridge. Two peanut butter cookies around peanut butter icing. Yum. Here, bro have one. And my wife makes a mean chocolate chip cookie bar, but for the Super Bowl she used butterscotch instead of chocolate. If there were maggots in those they are some happy maggots.
Ok that was gross.
:::::::::::::::laughing out loud with the dog looking at me strangely:::::::::::::
Soooo smoky and rich. Cheryl, it's mostly in Denver but there is a store in Silverthorne. Wish I'd known when I was up there. My daughter has a store right around the corner from her place.
Pass the pretzels. toooooeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyy. Darn Maggots.

Cheryl... Right Guard Rocks my face off.
Ben meet Sassy the Sasquatch ::: Sassy's hands could crush Ben's so she punches him lightly on the shoulder ::: Sassy ... Ben. When Sassy first came out of the woods behind my condo she had several fun things with her. One of them was a glass box with gold trim. If you touch it thinking of whatever beverage or food you want ... it appeared in the box and you could take it out and consume it! Just like Star Trek! Same sound affect even.
::: Sassy go mmph! with a big smile :::
The glass box is over there on the coffee table.
...grabbing the huge bag and following Sassy out to Randy's patio porch, my mind was racing with all the latest trends in hair fashion for spring 2008......
