ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected: False Prophets Phelps Clan Become Bloggers

Their shamefully horrid punctuation blows mine. My sixth grader writes better than this (and has more insight and maturity).

I actually thought that, if this were a parody of the Phelpses by like Colbert, or SNL, or something, then it would be written like this. But your own writing...it's not supposed to sound like you're making fun of yourself. I especially like how at the end they didn't manage to capitalize the 'h' in the divine 'Him,' but they capitalized "Children of Destruction." Sort of shows where their priorities are.

btw, Randy, have I ever mentioned how much I like the editing feature? ;-)

Yes... you have and it's funny. I get emailed your original and I come here to find how you have edited it. :)

Well, granted, any offspring of The Great Scott and Yourself is going to have good punctuation, unusual insight and before their time maturity. :)

I dunno... the comment in and of itself isn't beyond the character of God's judgement. Disease is definitely a trait of the fallen world we live in. But I would say that the "God-smack" comment could be substantiated when you take a look at Romans 1:25-27

They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged the natural sexual relations for unnatural ones, and likewise the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed in their passions for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

The end of that scripture gives the feeling that a real physical consequence erupted due to what was going on.

HOWEVER, I agree with Randy in that we serve a God whose heart is FOR his creation. He provided the way out... salvation through Jesus Christ. He's patient and loving... but He does let us reap the consequences of our disobedience... both individually and socially.

I'll admit, I know nothing of this Phelps person, though.

I don't agree. I think receiving into themselves could be the reception of carnal knowledge of a pleasure that we were never designed to have. That is a universal application of scripture whereas AIDS is not.
  • Randy · 1 year ago
I guess I should have also stated what I agreed with :) God is for us. He is redemptive and it is because of the New Covenant with Christ. He does let us endure consequences (I mean ... we will all die (earthly) of something) but I don't think He goes around "smacking" people in this age of grace.

I feel ill every time I read something about the Phelps. Their hatred continues to blow my mind.
  • Randy · 1 year ago
Yeah... that's why I rarely ever blog about them. But this angered me because it hit close to home.
  • Cheryl · 1 year ago
I am very sorry about Ron and very grateful to the Lord for the rest of your story, Randy.

Have to get off this page; you people and your psychobabble are scary!

I'm a bit confused. To whom do you refer when you say "you people" and to what do you refer when you say psychobabble? There isn't, so far as I can tell, any psychobabble on this page.
  • Randy · 1 year ago
While I might be psycho and love to babble ... I am not a license counselor nor the son of one. Even so, here goes ...

I think Dwight may be projecting a perceived inner angry child vs oppressive authority conflict onto the archetype he perceives this blog to represent. Thereby creating enough of a unconscious dissonance that then demands a need to 1) rebel and 2) seek negative affirmation to satiate his ambivalent need to be acknowledged by said objective authority that he quite frankly does and does not want.

    oops.

    Boo!

::: couldn't resist ::: Dwight, I hope you are up to having fun and explaining what you meant. If not, don't leave scared but bless you as you go.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, however - if any of you (Exodus/Ex Gay ministries etc) believe you're any different to the Phelps clan then you're even more hypocritical than you act....

You're ALL just as evil & deluded as they are - the only difference is that THEY don't hide their agenda behind a veil of 'compassion'. In some ways that makes your lot worse.

And no randy, you're NOT a counselor - not by a long shot - so don't go 'projecting' any kind of analysis onto me ok - coz i can see right through it.

Having said that - i wish you courage & love.

  • Randy · 1 year ago
Well, that's just an ignorant generalization. I think any reasonable person, even if they don't like what we do ... knows that we are not the same as the Phelps crew. But thanks for playing.

I never claimed to be a counselor either.

Is it just me or are a ton of people showing up and posting radical comments on really old posts?
  • Randy · 1 year ago
You haven't even seen the ones I haven't let through :). My guess is that these posts have hit someeone's private forum or email list. My "fan" blog linked to me yesterday but WP says that around 17 people have been referred here from there yesterday.

BUT, the post they linked to was a new one ... not these older ones. BUT, people can do a search on my blog.

Also, I did make the "pervert" role of the Phelps clan. Who knows who follows that.
