Thank you for this, Randy. Last night was long, and we didn't make it to church this morning as a result (Scott blogged it at Grumpy Teacher). This post, though, was more uplifting and quieting than church has been for a long, long time, for me, and I appreciate the gift of it very much.

Read Henri Nouwen's classic In The Name Of Jesus. It is as profound a piece of spiritual teaching as there is. In it, Nouwen discusses how the community of mentally handicapped among whom he lived, taught him so much about the love of Jesus and the primacy of being authentic and focused on God's love. It's a thin book and available at Amazon. I won't let anyone borrow mine because it has touched me that much.
