ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected: Grace Quotient for Cuss Words

Only 2 choice words! I thought with a heading like that you would have said a U-Haul full. ;)

Just this week I broke 3 needles working on a wedding dress and they didn't just break, they practically exploded in my face as I stitched through a bead or tight embroidery or something. At feeling the shard of needle hit my closed (thank the Lord for good reflexes) eyelid I uttered, "Mother ------!!" of all words... thankfully my sewing machine was the only witness to my outburst (of which it gets many I'm afraid to say.)

My girlfriend shared with me last night that she feels a little relieved when a person of certain spiritual integrity uses a four-lettered expletive because then she knows they are just a regular person too. Thanks for being humble enough to publicly share yours. I hope you'll be laughing at this story really soon. :)

What kind of icecream did you eat?

Ha! It appears that there's never a dull moment in the life of Mr. Thomas! I enjoyed reading your candid and humorous potty mouth confession.
I can't help but wonder how different your night and day would have been if you hadn't watched The Happening? Some of my most unfortunate and unexplainable days had their beginnings by making bad choices. But thanks be to God for His wonderful grace... at the end of the day where we can tell Him all and He grants us another new day to live for Him!

@Joyella - Well, I have so many things to work on and here lately it is my mouth. I appreciate your candid empathy. You must be a gem of patience to be able to create the wonderful garments you make. If I had to do that I think I might be using more expletives more often.

As for ice cream, I got Chocolate Chip with some chocolate syrup. :) The Former Roommate went with me. It was good to visit with him for a while.

@Greg - Thanks. If life is going to happen I am going to do my best to give it to God and see how He turns it for good. I like taking bad days or weird things or interesting people and writing blog posts. It helps me process and gives a creative outlet that others seem to enjoy. It's just fun and interesting.

I am not sure I get your question that infers seeing a movie led to a man shooting like a missle at my U-Haul truck. I am assuming you are alluding to spiritual warfare. I am also guessing that you are judging my seeing that movie as sinful (code: bad choices) thus inviting spiritual attack. Is that a true guess? I am simply curious. Please correct me if I am wrong in my estimation of your comments.

Bad things happen when blood sugar gets low. Just sayin'. I love how you were able to calm down and be kind and friendly with the man and his wife. So many people would have treated them horribly throughout the whole mess. Christ said that out of his heart a man speaks. So maybe you had a little bit of crud in there, but it must have been just a little bit floating on the top, since what came out quickly afterward was an apology and congeniality.

(A silly aside for you... Great Scott had to rent a car to take three of his journalism students to a convention. He got hit at the airport BY AN EMPLOYEE OF THE RENTAL AGENCY. To top it off, immediately after impact, Scott's three students piled out of their car snapping pictures of everything! :) Moral: Always keep a spare journalism student with a camera in your car, kinda like a trunk monkey. ;) )

Whew! Just got the fresh greens, mix beans and green beans cooking and I have a minute before fixing the cornbread...
I simply asked a rhetorical question which is something I do to myself. My comment about my personal experience can be summed up in Romans 10:23
All things are legitimate [permissible--and we are free to do anything we please], but not all things are helpful (expedient, profitable, and wholesome). All things are legitimate, but not all things are constructive [to character] and edifying [to spiritual life].
Please accept my apology if I offended you or sounded judgmental! I am the least one to go around picking out the splinter out of other's eyes as I'm too busy trying to remove the logs in my own!

@Cindy - thanks for the perspective check. That was very encouraging. Oh and I *always* have a camera with me but not that day. However, Perry was with me and he was running around with his cell phone. He was funny but very appreciated. I could only imagine *three* journalism students. That had to be funny.

@Greg - I wasn't offended and that is why I framed my response with questions. To figure out the true tone of what you were getting at. I appreciate you clarifying.

    1. Heee Heeeeeee. He called you a 'potty mouth!' lol
    2. Working in the Emergency Services (read: Paramedics) I work among some of the most foul-mouthed of people on the planet (generally not publicly, though, whew. Guess I'll have to blog about my four lettered friends some day.
    3. Saw The Happening last night (before reading this) and really enjoyed it! I don't think M Night did a very good (read: realistic) job with some of the scenes at all. My response to the movie: Praising God that He is bigger than Mother Nature, and that He's on the throne (then again, I've seen several of those scenes in real life...).
    4. I LOVE trunk monkeys!

    Blessings!
