Thank you both for your comments but of course I agree with Steve ;)

Intollerance? No more than FOTF is intollerant by not allowing advertising that they deem to not fit their image. The company that owns the billboard apparently disagreed with the proposed billboard and decided against it. In a free-market society, isn't that perfectly acceptable? Hmmm...I guess we all practice a bit of intolerance by not promoting messages that we disagree with. Companies like this one (or FOTF or Exodus) should not be forced to advertise products or events they disagree with should they? For FOTF to paint this company as intollerant simply because it wouldn't promote a message it apparently disagreed with (even for $$) is kind of like the pot calling the kettle black.

Your argument breaks down the minute a billboard company rejects a pro-gay ad. HRC, the NGLTF, and GLAAD would be all over that company demanding that they accept the billboard and undergo "sensitivity" training to make sure it never happens again.
It's a pretty good bet they refused this billboard because of the same homosexual activists who would be demanding that it be taken down because it's "hateful," "divisive" and "homophobic."

    Randy and Steve,
When the loony lefties behave like thought police, you rightfully complain.
But here Melissa Fryrear is, doing the same thing that the lefties do, and that's OK with you?
This country is no longer divided between left and right -- it's divided between those who support freedom of speech for all, and the partisans who support freedom of speech only for themselves.
I'm surprised that you would support freedom of speech only for the billboard companies that you agree with. How are you any better than the homosexual activists?
  • Randy · 2 years ago
Michael, your argument makes no sense. Melissa didn't try to get the billboard company fired or silence them. She didn't vandalize anything. They spoke through silence and she responded. Free speech is a two way street.
    and that's ok with me.
    But thanks for playing.
