Apparently these are some of my Great to Great Great somethings from my Dad’s side of the family. On the back of the picture I think my Meemaw (grandmother) wrote: “… Mom, Aunt Ola, Aunt Nora, Dad Scruggs, (confusing label) … Huber ... Continue reading »

  • Randy, have you ever thought about investigating your family history [genealogy] ? My mother is soooooo into genealogy. It is quite interesting. She's traced one side [Treadway] all the way back to the Crusades. The coat of arms are way cool... swords, beheaded enemies, crosses, griffins, etc.
  • I would love to but I don't have the time nor the money to hire someone.
  • Cool picture! I love to look at them. It's interesting to see [in photos] things, our ancestors had to live with, that we would not put up with! Genealogy is very time consuming but it is something to do on the side I guess, I'm glad my mother has an interest, because I just don't have the time of patience. I have found out that one side of my family [Treadway] was French. Then my great-grandfather Treadway married a full-blooded Cherokee woman named Florida. So I'm 1/4 Cherokee, French, Scotch-Irish, English and German [Parker]. Erika can't trace one side of her family because her great-grandfather was Jewish and his family completely disowned him and took away his identity when he fell in love and married her great-grandmother... a Gentile! So his name was changed from Wiess to Weiss.
  • If you ever meet somebody who's really into it, they might just do it for free. One of my mom's friends is doing/helping with ours. I think once a genealogy bug runs out of their family, they go off in search of other families to map out.
  • I will keep my eyes open for that possibility.
  • I know. I actually remember my maternal Great Grannies house and loved it ... except for the outhouse.

    ::: ewww :::

    I do know that my Dad's side is Welsh and my Mom's side is Welsh, British and their are rumors that my Great Great Granny was Cherokee. I saw a picture of her (don't have it) and I think she was black. I have seen the coat of arms for both sides and they are pretty cool.
