ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected: One of The Most Oddly Insprired Posts You Will Ever Be Asked To Participate In

    Thanks Randy :)

Wow, I think mall security might have something to say to that girl, if they ever catch up with her (plus, I bet she's a super fun person to know).

If I could fly anywhere...I think right now I'd go to New England, maybe Massachusetts or Vermont. Because in Massachusetts and Vermont it's probably not 75 degrees in the daytime. Sometimes I say seasons are overrated. But sometimes I wish I had them.
  • Randy · 12 months ago
Well, we have three seasons but they aren't your traditional ones. We have the wet and dry seasons. But I also believe we have a Spring, Summer and Fall. Winter? eh... not much of one ... it's like fall from November to February.

That's a great destination though. I love New England.
  • Randy · 12 months ago
Oh and i totally know a lady who look like that woman and acts just like her too.
  • Cheryl · 12 months ago
"Oh and kids… please don’t try that at home" :::pout:::

Hmmmm, where would I fly? I have always wanted to see Alaska, the Carolina's, the Artic. I admit, I'd probably go north. Although, perhaps not at this time of year unless I could fly in a bear skin or didn't feel temperature at all.
  • B.T.Carolus · 12 months ago
"Fly in a bear skin" reminds me of the fairy tale "East of the Sun, West of the Moon" (recently written into the book "East" by Edith Pattou). If you liked fairy tales at all you should read it (East is pretty good too).
  • Cheryl · 12 months ago
YESSSSSS I love fairy tales!! Thanks for the recommendation. I will read them.

I just finished George MacDonald's 'The Princess and Curdie'. Loved it! Have you read it?
  • B.T.Carolus · 12 months ago
I have never read any George MacDonald except for "The Princess and the Goblin" (a state of affairs of which I am most dreadfully ashamed). I will probably rectify that soon, but right now I have to read Absalom, Absalom, and then Toni Morrison's Beloved.
  • editorgal · 12 months ago
Oooh. "East of the Sun and West of the Moon" was my all time, absolute favorite book from third grade on. I still love it, and now you've reminded me I need to HAVE a copy for my very own! George MacDonald is a treasure, if you can read in the original, they're amazing.
  • Randy · 12 months ago
Those are all great. Your flying to the Carolina's reminded me of the Rockies. I would love to fly over the Rockies. OR fly from the Carolina's up through the Northeast and New England when the leaves are changing in the fall.

OR... fly over and into the center of a hurricane!
  • editorgal · 12 months ago
The Rockies would be my number one destination. Aspen/Snowmass area. Then the Tetons. Wow. Fabulous, Jackson, WY. Cold is my friend, I live in hot. wah
  • Randy · 12 months ago
    wah ;-)
  • Mensley · 12 months ago
There are plenty of places where this would be safe to try... are the moving sidewalks at Universal close enough together? I can't remember. In any case, I must do this.

As for this one-time, one-way, 6-hour flight, what is my speed limit? Can I drive somewhere else and start from there? I'd probably want to fly around some dramatic mountains somewhere and then safely land in a little town where I could hitch a ride home.
  • B.T.Carolus · 12 months ago
When you try it, I so demand video proof!

Your flight wish sounds like the Lord of the Rings shots of mountains. Very inspiring.
  • Randy · 12 months ago
Your speed limit is just below the sound barrier. and i agree with Ellie, if you MUST do this you MUST record it.
  • Jonathan · 12 months ago
And if you record it, you MUST share it with us :)
  • B.T.Carolus · 12 months ago
    Got all that, Mike? :-)
  • Mensley · 11 months ago
    Oh it's on...
  • Randy · 11 months ago
Hmmph.. I'll believe it when i see it. (totally trying to egg you on.)
  • Mensley · 11 months ago
    See and believe, my friends!
  • Randy · 11 months ago
You... are awesome ::: laugh :::
  • ChaplianChas. · 11 months ago
Perhaps I'll fly to witness Mensley's feat of magnanimous proportions?... I could stand some time in weather above 55 degrees and w/o cold mushy rain!

    Blessings!
    ChaplainChas.

Ooops. Sorry to have tracked slush onto your blog-floor! A-CHOO!

It's a beautiful day where I live!! The sun is shining, it's extremely windy but nevertheless the sun is out!!!! Yeah!!!!

No snow, hardly ever get any snow even though most people in the US have thought at least once in their life time that perhaps us Canadians live in igluse... for the simple fact that I don't even know how to spell that word right should be a very good indicated that we don't live in those ice-house thingy's. Actually, Vancouver, BC has the most ideal wheather across Canada. And so I don't complain. I would though like to see more snow although experiences less slush.

Where would I go? Perhaps land somewhere in the US! I've only been to Point Roberts, Blaine, and Seattle and since I live only a 2 hour drive away from Seattle that's not really where I'd like to go. I'd like to go somewhere I otherwise wouldn't go. I think I'd like to skip Washington State altogether since I'm basically next door.

I've always thought I'd like to see San Francisco .... perhaps travel around California. Oooh! I'd like to go to Redding California. Sorry I'm a bad speller but do you know the place I'm talking about? Bill Johnson is the Pastor at Bethel and I'd like to visit that church. He's an amazing preacher! I'm not sure how long it would take for me to travel there but since I'd be flying over time zones...would that increase my time to fly?

    Anyways... just a question here?

What would be the best State to visit in the US?
  • B.T.Carolus · 11 months ago
California, of course! Redding has a great restaurant called Lumberjack's that serves pancakes all day (mmm!). Plus if you ever drive down you can stop off at Grant's Pass in Oregon for some dutchbrother's coffee. And there's always Lake Shasta. If you go to Frisco, drive down to San Jose to visit the Tech (great hands on science museum), and don't forget the Japanese Gardens. You can see the aquarium at Monterey. And you should visit a mission.
  • Randy · 11 months ago
Yeah... California is the most diverse and TONS of stuff. At the same time ... Florida knows how to rock. We have a TON of stuff too.
  • B.T.Carolus · 11 months ago
Florida has mosquitoes, humidity, and very dangerous alligators...alligators eat tourists all the time! Avoid Florida, come to California. And visit me!

Oh, if you do get all the way down here, there's Disneyland, Hollywood, the Norton Simon, the Getty, the Disney Concert Hall, skiing (in our mountains) and day trips out to Palm Springs, the desert, and San Diego for the Wild Animal Park. You could come in late December for the Rose Parade, too, which is totally amazing.

    Yep, definitely come to California.

ETA, I forgot the beach. Of course you can go to the beach. And we could go out on a sailboat. Or to Catalina Island, which is always fun.
  • Randy · 11 months ago
Pffttt. Don't listen to her. We got a rat ... I mean mouse ... that can make all your dreams come true. They have Disney "land" ... whoopeee... We got the whole world baby :).

And the alligators are nice ... if you don't poke them with sticks.

    don't ask.
  • B.T.Carolus · 11 months ago
Disney World is just Disneyland with more space in between everything so you have to walk farther.
  • Randy · 11 months ago
Nooooooo.... they got flying things and floating things and things that run on tracks and big bus things. It's worth every step...

for about once a year and one day for each of the FOUR parks.

Plus, we got 2 Universal studio things and 2 Sea World things and yes we even have WAY more beach front than California.

If you can ignore the brain colonizing amoebas in the same ponds as the alligators... you're cool.
  • B.T.Carolus · 11 months ago
"The brain colonizing amoebas in the same ponds as the alligators"

Umm, I think you just totally won it for Cali.

Although, perhaps we should let Mensley decide, since he's lived in both states, and I've only visited Florida.
  • Pianomankugie · 11 months ago
If you like those crowded noisy urban areas that just go on and on and on where life is mostly cement concrete asphalt metal paint glass heat noise traffic, then by all means visit SF Bay Area and LA Megopolis....in the summertime you could visit Mt Lassen, Lake Tahoe, the Great Sequoia Trees at Sequoia National Park, Calaveras Big Trees, and if you don't mind a few crowds and noise, Yosemite Valley. Only go to Florida if you like to be wetter after you dry off after a shower than you were in the shower. And if you do go to Florida, definitely do NOT go in the summer! I'd have to visit Death Valley afterward just to recover from the humidity.
  • Randy · 11 months ago
Hey! The humidity isn't that bad even though you never have to iron ... just walk outside and the wrinkles will fall out on their own.

The weather is perfect this time of year though.

AND if you do come during the summer ... go to the beach. The beaches always have a breeze....It's inland that gets steamy.
