Prop 8 Simulcast in California About Protecting Marriage

Started by Randy · 9 months ago

I watched Alan share his testimony tonight LIVE from here in Orlando to a whole bunch of churches out in California rallying for support of Prop 8. Prop 8 would constitutionally define marriage (in that state) as being between one man and one woman. Also, my new co-worker (who is absolutely ... Continue reading »

  • So, I'm wishing I knew in time to have caught the one this evening, because most of the rebroadcasts, or original events are when I'm at school taking classes. Maybe I'll be fortunate enough to catch the last one. I didn't see an email go out on any of Exodus's mailing lists, like sometimes they do when they're being on a major broadcast...just something you guys may want to consider! Praying the message stirred people to share hearts more like Christ with the hurting world around them, while holding to the truth.
  • thanks for the feedback and encouragement Jonathan.
  • Well said about public policy. Thank you Randy.
  • Good, I am glad it made sense to you.

  • "When I had a change of heart and decided to move beyond my gay identity/worldview and seek out the possibility of change in my sexual orientation, I didn’t have to worry about divorce, child custody or property battles. For that I am glad."

What exactly is that supposed to mean? I mean, I'm in the same situation, but I'd never mention that as one of the benefits of being celibate. It kind of goes without saying. I know you don't mean this (at least, I hope I know you don't mean this) but to me it sounds like you're saying that the gay persons who are against Prop 8 should go ex-gay just so they don't have to worry about the things you describe.

And that sounds a little ridiculous. So if you didn't mean that, please tell me what you meant.
  • My statement means what it means. It's obvious I am speaking about my experience. If your reading into it sounds "ridiculous" to your own mind ... maybe you should cause yourself a little less stress and stop reading negative assumptions into obvious statements.
