ETC: Everyday Thoughts Collected: Q & A Friday - Moving Past An Emotionally Destructive Relationship

What incredible freedom comes in life when we realize faith doesn't rely on feelings! I love Corrie Ten Boom's story (The Hiding Place fame/ concentration camp experiences during The War) of forgiveness of one of the guard's that had abused her and her sister. He apologized to her and asked forgiveness which she did NOT want to give. ...since she had just taught on forgiveness she knew she had to and debated w/the Lord. She simply extended her hand to offer 'forgiveness,' but as she did so the Holy Spirit changed her heart through that simple act of obedience, and BOTH were blessed.

I was reminded recently of her quote that goes to the effect that 'when God forgives us, He takes the offense and throws it into the bottom of the deep sea of forgiveness, where He has signs posted: NO FISHING!"

My Dad always said, 'we are responsible for our actions, and repentance. If we were 5% wrong and the other person was 95% wrong, we still need to deal with our 5%, even if the other person doesn't repent of ANY of their stuffs.'

I'm straying off topic, but it was fun to respond with all this. Thanks for the reminders!

@ChaplainChas. - Your Dad is cool. I totally agree with him about the 5 vs. 95%. I don't think you were off topic and I am glad you had fun responding. I think your contribution is great. :)
