The Libertarian party (usually socially liberal while fiscally conservative) is the closes we have to an influential third party. I honestly believe that in my lifetime we will see the two party system completely fracture.

But regardless of how many parties there are, we have to do the hard work at the grass roots for any real change to take place.

Re: Rick Warren’s Faith Forum with Obama and McCain - Ask It Basket

Wow. I mention this because I have appreciated your ability to speak your convictions while not [purposely] offending another. This is your blog... you can say what you want, but you value the thoughts of the other person. Paul strongly reprimanded the Corinthians for doing things [their freedom to eat meat offered to idols, their mature knowledge of certain subjects, their arguing and debauchery at the LORD's table] that would cause another to loose faith, stumble or sin against their own scruples! I don't believe I have ever heard a sermon from this text... sad to say. We need to hear it desperately! All the hateful, hurtful, and disrespectful things I've heard from the pulpit and from the Laity. [didn't mean to go there again : ) I haven't read or viewed anything about the forum...yet, but I whole heartedly agree with your viewpoint. But, why can't there be a third political party based on social, moral and fiscal responsibility? A party that draws on the strengths of both existing parties and then some? Too idealistic I guess? Peace-out.

Re: Rick Warren’s Faith Forum with Obama and McCain - Ask It Basket

"I have to spend eternity with these Crazy Christians voting for Obama :).
