The Screaming Neenies Fear Palin Power

Started by Randy · 9 months ago

This stuff is way out of hand. Regular conservative (and maybe even some liberal) readers, take a deep breath cause you might get a little miffed by the end of this. I try to mix in a little humor but … well, you will see.
Queerty quotes Margaret Cho saying that Sarah is the ... Continue reading »

  • The desperation the libs are showing is becoming dangerous. I can't imagine the meltdown when their candidate loses. Beware the collective response from these people.
  • Exactly. I think change really is coming. Hopefully in that Hollywood and activists will not only see how out of touch they are but people will quit idolizing idealized high profile people.

But I have a feeling you are right Kansas Girl, we should beware.
  • I wish I was world-wise enough to tell whether the Hard Left was entering its final death-throes--or on the verge of a violent oppressive takeover. Maybe it's still a toss-up between the two and the decision has yet to be made by some act of fate.

In any case, if we are not going to be sheep and we are not going to be strangled out of Democracy forever, we need to make a resolute stand against the Celebrity Elite who have staked their claim on the American mind. They, like the government, get all of their power from us and they want us not to realize that. We can take it away, and we must.
  • How do you suggest we take away their "power?" I could make some obvious assumptions but would rather hear your thoughts.
  • Well, I've never been big on boycotts, but what else is there? I've been thinking of starting a Facebook/Myspace group for people who are fed up with all this stuff. I'd call it "The Great American Un-Plug" or something like that. Not only would I encourage people to stop watching the network news shows, but to actively write letters to network executives AND the shows' sponsors, letting them know I'm not watching the show anymore, why I'm not watching it, and what might change my mind--namely some serious apologies from their head honchos and some reporters-turned-liberal-commentators filing for unemployment.
  • I like that idea. The way most of that type of stuff is being done is really kind of old school. IF for some reason this takes off and you do it in a way that the Liberal Left has done with Daily KOS... they have a lot of influence in their spheres.

    ... pondering ...
  • Hmm, Mensley. Sad to say, network execs and the show sponsors don't care about your boycott. Rather, they view your letter/e-mail as a postive response, no matter what your correspondence says. Even more frustrating for me is the inability to have reasoned conversation with the Obamaniacs about anything they view as an insult, assault, affront to their chosen candidate, even if it's merely a question for clarity. I've taken to praying for the nation as a whole, for discernmen . . . for Godly wisdom. But then, I'm considered a jaded ol' hippie girl by my offspring . . . complete with Big Brother-itis and a semi-rabid defense of the constitution and the rights and protections granted to all of us therein. Ruh-roh, I feel a rant comin' on, later guys.
  • Editorgal, thank you very much for your comment. Just a little moderator note: if you hit the reply link underneath a comment, a text area will open up so that you can respond "in line" with that particular comment thread. This helps with flow as well as notifies the original commenter that you are responding via email.

Thank you *very* much for participating in the discussion.
  • Thanks. I plead terminal blondeness. Okay, so I didn't notice the reply and flag links. Again, blonde. Again, thanks. Got it now!
  • :), I like you and hope you will stick around :)
  • Great post, Randy~
I'm glad you've put this all in one place. I srsly don't know whether to laugh or cry at the state of affairs we're in, but I'm SOOO thankful that ultimately it's GOD that installs and removes powers! Rapture, in addition to being closer than ever before, just seems like an obvious next step so the aforementioned theocracy can actually take place! Call me an escapist if you want, but I'll keep working for Christians to love and non-Christians to understand and accept that love until *poof* I'm out of here!

I like mensley's idea of the fb group, but tend to agree that unless it's incredibly wide-spread, editorgal is likely correct that the biggies couldn't give a hoot.

I guess I'll sign off with the reminder that 'they'll know WE are Christians by OUR love...'. We can't really expect those under the authority of the Father of Lies to exhibit Christ-likeness, or even morality. I was once in that Kingdom, as were all of us... The deceiver earned that name for a reason!

Praying w/editorgal; Lord, open their eyes (republicrats AND demicans) to see Your will. May it be done here on earth even as it is in Heaven!

    Blessings!
    ChaplainChas.
  • Thanks Chas. I agree, the only theocracy I want to live under is the one in Heaven :). I like your Republicrats and Demicans thing.
  • From President George Washington's Farewell Address, which strangely enough seems very a propos here:

The common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.
It serves always to distract the Public Councils, and enfeeble the Public Administration. It agitates the Community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which find a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions.
  • Ah. More proof, just in case we needed it, that "there's nothing new under the sun." Good ol' Solomon!
  • That is very bi-partisanly true :). GREAT quote.
  • C'mon, there's just as much right-wing bile going on about Obama as there is left-wing grotesquerie about Palin. There will always be those who wail and shout and stomp their feet and make stupid statements. I'm sure I could collect a list just that heinous from the repubs in about 10 minutes, but why bother? What does that achieve?

Focus on the meat of the campaign, and let others get caught up in the fluff. This is an election with two serious candidates and some extremely serious issues. You lower yourselves by repeating all this crap. Let's here some discussion of policy differences, not discussion of who can make the basest comment.

    <end> soap-box ;->
  • Well of course I don't agree. I think it is appropriate to put this all together ... and I would like to see someone compile the list of mainstream media and Hollywood curses against Obama. Then do a comparison contrast. I know there is Bile directed at Obama ... but I don't see it coming from the MSM and Hollywood.

You can borrow my soapbox in case you need another one to get on :).
  • Ok, I'm going to write this and then brace myself for a possible backlash, but here goes...

I don't know Randy, many of these individual instances are quite alarming, but jumbles altogether and then blamed on the way liberals (implication of all liberals or all Obama supporters) actually has the opposite effect on me.

As an independent that has only voted democrat twice in my life, when I see individual actions like this lumped together and blamed on an entire group, it makes me look at the group that is being blamed as the victim (almost the same thing as you are saying, just the opposite).

I realize you aren't the one doing all of what I am going to post, but here goes: Blaming the entire news media for being liberal (or anti-conservative just rings more of playing the victim card than actually being based in fact--Signilore brought this up in the article you linked pointing out how the news media looked into Obama's church with never-before-seen scrutiny while leaving Palin and McCain pretty much alone). Calling Obama supporters "Obamaniacs" seems just a bit condescending at the very least and surely quoting someone that is questioning rather Palin is really a woman isn't woth pinning on liberals as a whole doesn't really do much to help politics as a whole.

I don't know, I read your post, and I hear what you are saying (and I've seen plenty of others say similar things), but then I go listen to those of the more liberal persuasion, and they've got the exact same types of accusations from their side.

It leaves someone in the middle in a bit of a tizzy. More importantly, just jaded altogether. It's like the two sides are trying to see who can play the victim card harder.
  • The "Obamaniacs" comment was mine, and I heartily agree, I could've just as easily put "McCainiacs." "-iacs" of any persuasion affect me like earplugs made for super-duper loud sounds, I quit listening. We must reason and discern, have lively and loving debate, and above all pray. You're right, pointing fingers serve no good purpose.
  • Well, I don't feel like a victim but I do think attacking Palin like that is a true verbal attack. I would like to see how other liberals who are offended by the above handle it. I mentioned that some liberals would be offended by all of that too at the beginning of the post. I certainly think some of the people to the right of me (and yes there are quite a few in that realm) are out of line for their comments but... I don't see it coming with the same force and impact as what Hollywood and the MSM are doing.
  • Mostly I want to know, does the emperor have new clothes? Sigh. Lines drawn in the sand, sides taken, verbal attacks and accusations (substantive or imagined) . . . who has to most to lose? What is really at stake?
Folks, you can't legislate morality and values. You never could.

By the same token, you cannot legislate evil and call it good. Doesn't work. Some of us are not blind and our ears still hear . . . bi-partisanly. I am not happy with what either side is saying (as a general blanket opinion!). I trust Him, I look to Him for my salvation. I pray for those in leadership for theirs is a unique burden, whether I agree with their decisions or not. Governments don't usually change for the better, but people can by His grace and mercy. Come, Lord, soon.
  • All good points and a good reminder to look at the bigger picture of ultimate truth.
  • The desperation the libs are showing is becoming dangerous. I can't imagine the meltdown when their candidate loses. Beware the collective response from these people.

  • Did anyone else hear that the Grand Jury has decided not to bring charges against Governor Palins' e-mail hacker? These are troubling times indeed. Be safe.
  • Wow. I hadn't heard that yet.
  • Woah!....makes me wonder if it'd been a similar hack of Obama's email if they'd have done anything.
  • I am sure they would.
  • How do you suggest we take away their "power?" I could make some obvious assumptions but would rather hear your thoughts.

  • I don't hear anyone warning Biden or Obama that they will be gang-raped. I do think the slander is weighing heavily to one side, and I'm a moderate :)
  • ::: gasp ::: A MODERATE? Did you see this video? According to John Cleese everyone dislikes moderates.

But hands down you have got to be one of if not my actual favorite moderate. :)

As am I, just drawing out the disturbing contrast. I often find it more effective to draw people to think and allow God to help them come to their his conclusions then give it to them. My words are fleeting, but his words, and the mark he makes on us will remain.
  • Jonathan, I don't think I understand what your saying. I give people my opinion and never assume that I have the power to "give" them their own opinion.

While I hope to not be rude, I am direct all the while realizing they have to do whatever they gotta' do with themselves and God.
  • You seem to understand what I was getting at even though I posed it
badly, so I'll try again. I can present my view, I can present the
means by which I arrived at it, or I can do both. One seems to me to

try to overcome my problems communicating or my possible
misunderstanding of another's views is to pose questions, which can be
responded to or which seem to more easily invite requests for
    clarification to me.

  • Hi editorgal- thanks for your response, much appreciated.

Randy- I guess my point was that most of your links weren't attacks launched by the MSM, but rather by Hollywood or radical leftists or bloggers. There are plenty of those kinds of attacks coming from similar sources launched at Obama.

I'll agree that Obama isn't really dealing with the Hollywood attacks, but man the right wing media (read Fox) and the right wing radio hosts, local and national are all over him. in fact, the rumors were getting so bad, that Obama's campaign decided to launch an anti-rumor website to confront them.

I'm still hearing one of the local right wing talk hosts implying that Obama might be a muslim (and Fox news is the one that kind of broke this story by bringing out that he was educated in a Madrasa but failing to point out he was also educated in a Catholic School). The Muslim rumors have tons of side rumors such as he got sworn in on the Q'ran, or the "57" states rumor, so they're dozens of rumors in one.

Then there's the whole Jeremiah Wright issue. It's odd that some people on the far right are trying to have it both ways--he's a muslim, but he also attends a church where they hate white people or Anti-America. And let's not forget that MSM was ALL OVER the Wright issue for weaks. Rush Limbaugh even said they were giving it so much coverage as a directive from the Clintons.

There's the claim that he won't say the pledge of allegiance.
There's the claim that Hugo Chavez or other foreigners have been funding his campaign.
Or how about Rush Limbaugh saying repeatedly that the left is viewing Obama as the second coming or a "Christ figure"
The of course there's ObamaNation by Jerome Corsi, which has been praised by many, got all kinds of MSM attention, but is full of falsehoods and was written by an author with a very questionable record.

I'll stop for now. Honestly, I hadn't heard many of the anti-McCain stuff you put up there, and it took me about 20 minutes to get these, but there is plenty of "anti" from both sides.
  • FOX News has always said that the Muslim rumor isn't true (at least what I have seen.) I also learned that he went to both schools on FOX. Nobody made up Jeremiah Wright...he did it himself and Obama claimed strong allegiance to him and his church. That's hardly saying that he is "the worst thing since 9/11". I have not heard of foreigners funding his campaign and even Hillary made fun of Obama's "messiah" complex.

I also hadn't heard (truly) of ObamaNation so I will check it out. But still none of that is even comparable to having your daughters called sluts, stigmatized as homophobes, being laughed at, told you will be raped ... and such.

Granted, I think there is plenty of bile to go around (the fringey's and Ann Coulter from time to time) but the high profile slander is definitely on a whole new level coming in from the Left.

Sidenote: you are right, a majority, but not all, of the quotes above are from Hollywood, even though the MSM is repeating them all OVER the place ... and interestingly, many of the quotes are from gay identified people or activists.
  • Ok... perfect timing. I just heard Glenn Beck say something totally stupid. Barack/Biden as faith healers :(

Biden made a mistake. Which reminds me, I don't believe MIchelle Obama ever hated America and roll my eyes every time I hear it.
  • Randy- I meant to say that I agree that all of the quotes you cited are ridiculous, and they do anger me.

That said- I still hold to my belief that it's happening on both sides with basically equal vigor (just google "Anti-Obama Fox" and see how many links pop up with anti-obama stuff, some of it "slip ups" like the Sadam/Obama text mistake, some of it more planned out.

Anyway, we disagree, but that's how I see it.
  • ok cool. thanks for chiming in :)
  • I am sure they would.
  • As am I, just drawing out the disturbing contrast. I often find it more effective to draw people to think and allow God to help them come to their his conclusions then give it to them. My words are fleeting, but his words, and the mark he makes on us will remain.
