I have only been to Stockton and San Jose. Folsom (the town) sounds nice.

I understand how you could get things mixed up. Folsom is a town outside Sacramento, that's where I lived. The walking trails in Folsom are absolutely breathe taking. After getting off work, walking the girls was my high light. Ever been to that part of California?

Don't feel like an idiot. We might be talking about two different places. The Folsom Street Fair I am thinking of is a blasphemous street fair somewhere in San Francisco. It's probably on Folsom Street in San Fran. I would google it but... I don't particularly want to research that party.

Ok, I feel like an idiot. The Folsom street fair was an outdoor street event where they set up booths advertising different vendors. I remember going to that, I picked up dog treat for the girls. I was thinking it was some sort of parting event.

The thing that brought me to Folsom was a new job. I never got into any social events. I loved the outdoors. I was only about an hour from Lake Tahoe. Beautiful!!

what's the Folsom street fair thing? I've never heard of that. My guess from you mentioning it, it's something that's doesn't reflect Christ.

I loved living in Northern California! I think it's the most beautiful place I've every been. A death in the family called me home to Texas, I pray one day I will own a home in Northern California. Folsom California is a perfect vacation spot. :)

Brady I agree. That's what we talked more personally about. The striking thing was that he hadn't thought of those aspects of what he was doing.

Ellie and Brian *this* American thinks California is very odd ... and I love it. I do think there is a big difference between SoCal and NoCal ( :) ) I won't enumerate them because I haven't really thought about it much. For the moment, Southern California is very different but understandable. Northern California is very different and in some ways a culture shock. Again, I haven't really thought through it.

Oh and when I say very different I don't mean that in a bad way. Different in that it is different from anywhere else in the country.

Brian, nobody in SoCal has ever claimed that NorCal isn't enjoyable...we just think they're a bit different. Of course most Americans seem to think that about our state generally, so maybe we're a little different down here too :)

I went to school and SoCal, they claim it's a different state up there but I found my visits rather enjoyable whenever I made the trek up the coast. Enjoy the scenery!

Good point about male-male objectification. It surely does happen.

I think I'd have trouble hearing someone handing me a beer at a bar/club (where honestly the point of drinking in most of these establishments is to actually get drunk for most people). Handing me a beer at a bbq is one thing, but in an environment where he's giving people beer to help them get drunk, I dunno. Seems like a conflict.
