I'm so guilty of trying to get closer to God, become more righteous through some sacrifice or works [while knowing full well it will not work]. As if God's perfection isn't enough for me, I have to help Him out by doing something [put a little extra in the offering, buy a worship CD, fast] that will make me feel like I've helped earned my healing, forgiveness, etc... The Holy Spirit has really been teaching me this Truth for a while now. As I learn to focus on Jesus and have a relationship with Him everything else fades, my grip lets go of myself.... sort of like your comment about bungee jumping off the Throne of Grace! I've thought about your humorous picture of angels watching people jumping off the Throne of Grace. That's what I've prayed... to free fall into the Grace of God! Read Hebrew 6:19 [AMP].

Re: Worship Instead of Tinkering

I really like this quote.
